Keeping your home tidy and organized is hard work and can be expensive too. There are all kinds of products out there for organization. From shelving, to drawer organizers, and everything else, there are plenty of ways to keep your home organized. Unfortunately, a lot of the tools out there are not a one-size-fits-all solution.
Fortunately, there is one tool (that everyone has in their house) that is affordable and fixes a lot of our crowded spaces. This wonderful tool is a tension rod. A tension rod is inexpensive, easy to install and can be used just about anywhere in your home. Here are the many ways you can use this handy tool.
Organize a Closet
I don’t know about you, but no matter what I do, I can never get my closet (or my kids’ closets) organized. I have tried bins, extra shelving, you name it. Yet somehow stuff is always on the floor, jammed in a shelf, or misplaced.
A tension rod is an easy solution, especially for items that don’t necessarily have a designated place. It’s great for hats, belts, shorts, or even boots! All you have to do is pair it with curtain clips, hang it up and there you go! A perfect solution for organizing and creating extra space.
Organize a Bathroom
Bathroom storage is great…until you find yourself stuffing everything in one drawer. This “one drawer” of mine is packed with hair ties, hair brushes, lotion, washes, makeup…you name it. And when I say packed, I mean packed to where I can’t even open the drawer anymore! A tension rod is a great solution for bathrooms, too. They can hold headbands, hair brushes, any hair accessory or you can hang larger on them such as blow driers and irons.
Create Shower Space
Anyone have a shower that has absolutely no space for storage? Maybe your shelves are too full, or you don’t even have shelves. A tension rod will provide you with storage for items that don’t have a place. This tension rod can hold washcloths, loofas, body brushes or any other loose items.
Add Storage for Cleaning
Another area that always seems to be crowded is under the sink. Both my kitchen sink and bathroom sinks serve as cleaning storage. Opening the cabinet is always a disaster and I can never seem to find what I am looking for! A tension rod can be used to organize this space. All you have to do is put one up at the top and you can hang any spray bottle. This leaves room for brushes, boxes, or anything else underneath. You will be surprised that you can finally see what you have again!
Create Extra Doors
Do you have spaces in your home that function as closets but don’t have doors? You may be thinking of ways to cover this space up without it looking unappealing. It is impossible to find curtain rods for this odd size, but that’s what tension rods are for! These can then hold curtains, which will help create an organized, clean hidden space.
As handy as tension rods are, it’s no surprise how handy extra curtains are. These spaces that are hard to cover but need to be made into a closet…Take a tension rod and a curtain and in less than a few minutes you have a door! Of course, you want this area to look neat and appealing, so having high quality curtains are a must. If you need a good set of curtains in your home, check out our great selection at Luxor Linens.
Use as Tape Dispensers
Do you have rolls of tape laying around and have no idea what to do with them? Can you guess the simple solution? If you guessed a tension rod, you got it right! (Starting to sense the pattern here?) A tension rod fits well in any working space – an office, garage, or even closet. Simply hang the tape on it and you have an organized, functioning tape dispenser.
Make a Bath Tub Toy Organizer
Part of being a parent is adjusting to the mess that’s made everywhere our child goes. It’s a never ending trail of toys. One room that always ends up a disaster is the bathroom. There are toys on the floor, in the tub and along the sides of the tub. Hanging a towel rod alongside the walls of your shower will allow for you to hang cubbies. Simply throw the bath toys into the cubbies and you’ve got a clean, organized space that Mom or Dad could use too.
Hang Ribbons
Have you ever walked into an arts and craft store like Michaels or Hobby Lobby and been impressed with how organized their ribbon section is? You too, can have that impressive ribbon wall, with the help of a tension rod!
Use in the Laundry Room
Another room that always seems to need more space is the laundry room. If you don’t have any built in storage or hanging space, you might be wondering what in the world to do. A tension rod is an inexpensive solution for all your laundry room needs. It’s a great place to hang any clothes that can’t be thrown into the drier, or can be used for any spray bottles you may have in the room.
Cover tricky windows
If you have some windows that are unusual sizes, it might be difficult to find the right sized rod for curtains. You might want to try a tension rod! This especially is great for spaces in rooms like offices, walk-in closets, garage spaces or basements.
You probably had no idea just how handy an inexpensive tension rod could be. Although they are known for their shower pole use, they can clearly be used for a lot more than that! These tension rods are quick and easy to install and can be taken down in the blink of an eye all while leaving no damage to your walls, which is especially great for renters. A tension rod is a tool that almost every home has, and we recommend buying more of them to use around your home.
